Realms Of Fantasy : The Envelope Please . . .

After "The Azazel Tree" ended up a non-winning finalist in WOTF, I sent the story to Realms of Fantasy. As with "Foregleamer", I received the The Yellow Form of Promise. Doug Cohen said that he liked the concept and pacing, however the milieu didn't feel fully realized. At last, a clue as to why my story didn't win WOTF!

I rejoined critters and looked for you. Did you quit?

I didn't quit, so much as slowly got out of the routine. Looks like I'd better get back into it!

Cool.

I sent mine to F&SF. This time my rejection came from Gordon Van Gelder himself. Hopefully that means John Joseph Adams liked it and passed it on, not just that he was on vacation.

But sadly, no detail as to why the story didn't pass muster. Maybe I need to start submitting more to RoF.

Oh my! You passed the slush pile at F&SF. Mine got bounced after 6 days. I suspect your finalist story is of far, far better quality.
